Abstract

On February 02, 2021, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan inked a roadmap for a 573-kilometre railway line to connect Peshawar with Tashkent via Kabul. If realized, this dream come true will provide Central Asian Republics (CARs) with the shortest and cheapest route to the Arabian Sea, making Pakistan a transit hub. The three countries declared the project a “powerful platform” that will stimulate economic growth and create new opportunities.2 Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate (of Uzbekistan) hailed it as an “event of the century”.
